On the Eve of Mothering Sunday, this workshop aims to help you cultivate gratitude. Whether you come with your Mum, are a Mum yourself or just want to cultivate appreciation for life, this workshop will help you disconnect from negative thought patterns in favour of being present and find delight and thanks for where you are right now.
In this 2-hour journey into Yin Yoga you will first be introduced to mindfulness meditation, to help develop awareness as you begin to slow down your body and calm your mind.
We will then move into Yin Yoga poses that target the connective tissue and joints in the body. The passive Yin Yoga practice will be an extension to the meditation as it requires as much from the mind as the body. Passively holding the yin yoga poses for between 3-5 minutes will challenge the mind to process negative thought patterns in a compassionate and accepting way. The Yin practice will help to increase flexibility and range of motion in a deep and effective way, help increase bone density, and enhance vitality and overall heath. In this yoga workshop, you will experience how the Yin Yoga practice gets past the muscles and targets the connective ‘yin’ tissues – joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia that wraps around your joints, muscles and organs. The Yin yoga poses will simultaneously promote and maintain mobility as connective tissue is safely and therapeutically stretched, stimulated and strengthened.
The strong meditative thread through this workshop will be further enhanced by completing the journey with a Yoga Nidra, a deep relaxation. This guided relaxation is a method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
This workshop will have you feeling relaxed both in body and mind so that you emerge feeling receptive, rejuvenated and in a state of contentment and well-being. You will leave having planted the seeds of gratitude and compassion within your heart and feel renewed to step back into life.
Suitable for anyone looking to learn meditation and deeply quieten both body and mind. Ideal also to complement a more active ‘yang’ yoga practice or active pursuits like running. This beautiful calming and deeply relaxing mindfulness meditation and yin yoga workshop will help you relax and combat busy lives. Open to all abilities: both those beginning yoga and more experienced yogis will enjoy this workshop.
Guided through gentle, easy awareness-based Somatic movements explore ways to create more ease and freedom through in yourshoulders, upper back and neck. 2 Week Yin Yoga Course: 7.15pm, Friday 20th April 2018 (no class 27Apr or 04May)
End your busy week with this beautiful calming and deeply relaxing mindfulness meditation and yin yoga class.
Mindfulness meditation will help you relieve stress through exploring the habits of your mind.
The passive Yin Yoga practice requires as much from the mind as the body as simple stretches are held for between 2-5 minutes challenging the mind to process negative thought patterns in a compassionate and accepting way. Body sensations are navigated by building inner stamina and endurance and developing a mindfulness based meditation practice. Yin Yoga is a very simple practice that involves luxuriously long holds to get past the muscles and target the connective ‘yin’ tissues - joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia that wraps around your joints, muscles and organs. Yin yoga will simultaneously promote and maintain mobility as connective tissue is safely and therapeutically stretched, stimulated and strengthened. This course will leave you feeling relaxed both in body and mind and enable you to ease into your weekend.
2-Hour Somatics for Walkers & Runners Workshop: 10.30am, Saturday 12th May 2018
Join Deirdre Mullins, our fully qualified Somatic Exercise Coach, Clinical Somatic Educator and experienced Yoga teacher for a morning workshop of Somatic Movement Education.
You walk and run not just with your feet and legs, but with your pelvis, back, belly, ribs, arms – even how you hold your head can affect everything. During this workshop, you will get a better sense of how your whole body coordinates movement and learn how to organise your movements more efficiently, economically and without injury.
Using carefully structured sequences participants will increase awareness of anatomical movements needed to boost strength, stability and mobility when running, walking, jogging and hiking.
Somatics is a gentle safe and effective practice that is equally open to walkers and experienced runners, we can all learn something new to improve our movements at this fundamental level.
