Yoga is an ancient science and an artful practice derived from India more than 5,000 years ago, designed to bring healing and enlightenment right down to the cellular level. At Breathing Place we offer Hatha Yoga, Flow Yoga, Somatic, Forrest Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Yin Yoga.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga emphasises asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and dhyana (meditation). Enjoy gentle yoga poses that focus on breathing and stretching. Classes include a relaxation.
Somatic Yoga
Perfect for beginners or those with an injury looking for a therapeutic class. Hatha Somatic Yoga infuses Hatha Yoga with Somatic Movement. This class explores movements which bring length and lightness to the spine and flexibility and stability to the hips and shoulders. Open to all ages/levels of fitness.
Flow Yoga
Using breath and easy flow pattern which may focus on hips, shoulders, lower back, or legs. The class helps improve flexibility and strength and is wonderful practice to get started.
Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Yoga, based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga, that emphasises detail, precision & alignment. Iyengar yoga is a great practice for beginners, as it uses props to make it accessible for all levels. Iyengar Yoga postures harmonise the movement of the body and instil clarity and peace of mind. Only teachers who bear the Iyengar Yoga Certification mark are permitted to teach under the Iyengar name.
Forrest Yoga
Forrest Yoga is a method developed over 30 years by yoga teacher Ana Forrest specifically to address physical and emotional current day stress and challenges. Forrest Yoga emphasises healing through powerful yoga sequences and breathing techniques practiced in 27° heat, New to Forrest Yoga, you learn to breathe deeply and connect in to your body. As you progress, you become proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you; particularly with physical and emotional injuries. Learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. Forrest yoga is an intense, mindful yoga that offers great rewards and a wonderful pathway to build your practice.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga uses passive postures held for 1-5 minutes to allow for deep opening in the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and spine. Yin Yoga is a meditative practice, listening more closely to your body while also preparing your body to sit more easily in meditation. It can be practiced by any level of student and can be very beneficial for increasing flexility in muscles surrounding the joints (such as the hips) that tend to lose mobility with age.

Pregnancy Yoga (14+ weeks pregnant)
Gentle and safe prenatal yoga is open to all levels including beginners. Classes will help your body support its changing shape while sharing tools to prepare for birth through breathing and relaxation.
Mother & Baby Yoga
Open to mothers including beginners after postpartum check-up and babies (not yet walking). Enjoy an informal yoga class with your baby while you regain strength and flexibility following your pregnancy. Enjoy gentle yoga poses, modified to include baby allowing you to bond in a shared fun activity and make friends with other Mams. Duration 1 hour.
Teen Yoga
Teen Yoga helps build strength, flexibility, balance, poise and confidence in both body and mind and is a fun way to relax and unwind after school – especially if exams are looming. Teen Yoga allows teenagers to channel some of the energy generated during puberty to blossom into healthy and well balanced men and women with strong bodies, clear minds and pure hearts.
Yoga For Children
Yoga for children helps to maintain natural flexibility and mobility in addition to strengthening immune system and improving concentration. Kids Yoga Classes take 40 minutes and offer an opportunity for children to express creativity and individuality in a non-competitive and safe environment.
Yoga for kids classes include meditation, breathing and yoga postures, taught in an enjoyable way for overall balance, strength, concentration and to promote self-confidence.

Pilates is a body conditioning method using slow, controlled and fluid moves. It is for everyone, whatever your age, body shape or fitness. Targeting the deep postural muscles, Pilates works by building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body to bring it into correct alignment. It helps to reshape the body making it longer, leaner and more toned. The principles of Pilates are concentration, breathing, centering, control and precision. Pilates will improve the posture achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. It is especially recommended by health care professionals for those suffering with back problems.

Pilates Mat
For those who are new to Pilates, rehabilitating an injury or returning after a long break. Learn the fundamental movements with the emphasis on technique. Incorporating strength, mobility and stretching movements.

Mindfulness Meditation
Meditation brings the mind to a state of tranquillity and awareness, sharpens your concentration, intuition and thinking power. It brings about personal transformation. Meditation when practiced regularly reduces tension, fear and worry giving you a wonderful feeling of wellbeing.
